Traveling to South Korea never be complete if you don’t visit the ‘fake’ island named Namiseom island. Became famous as the main location for famous K-drama early 2000s named Winter Sonata, Namiseom island itself became one of prettiest places I’ve visited during my autumn trip at South Korea. To make it cuter, even it’s just only located at Chuncheon which around 90 minutes from Seoul, It feel like we visit another country name Naminara Republic because all tourist traveled to Namiseom island by passing an immigration gate and having entrance ticket as a visa, such a creative local tourism!
Don’t be confused if my SK itinerary consist of going to some Seoul’s campus. Actually, I also want to go to Seoul National University and Kyung Hee University at that time but during limited time, Ewha Womans University is the nearest campus I could reach. Beside those grand architecture, most of those campus also have big park which have beautiful autumn vibes. I already saw how wonderful Ewha during 2 Days 1 Night’s Ewha trip, uhmm yes, another 2 Days 1 Night effect I supposed, LOL. Since this campus located only one station from my hostel, I came to Ewha for a morning stroll.
Despite of Seoul’s modernization, at some areas, we still could find some trace of Korean’s old life and Buckhon Hanok Village is one of them. Eventho’ its name as village, it’s located at downtown Seoul and very accessible. Imagine Bukchon as Menteng whereas both of them located at the downtown and became preserved district, Buckhon itself consists of many korean traditional houses named Hanok -a korean word for house during Joseon dynasty-. Nowadays, those Hanok aren’t only for private living houses but some of them also served as cultural center, homestays, cafe, until shops.
I didn’t plan to visit Garden of Morning Calm at the same day with my trip to Nami Island and Petite French since our day-trip at Gyeonggi province a little time-strict since my friend need to come back to Seoul at 6 pm. Thanks to impulsive gut bcos my friend and I just made quick decision when we’re in the bus after took off from Petite French since Gapyeong City Bus Tour’s circle route come to this garden first before going back to station. We already went to Jade Garden the day before, so I didn’t expect much, but turned out, Garden of Morning Calm is so much bigger than Jade Garden and so far, became the most beautiful garden for me.
Jade Garden Natural Arboretum is another beautiful location outside Seoul. Located at Gangwon province which is about 90 minutes from downtown Seoul, Jade Garden became a famous attraction based on Kdrama The Winter the Wind Blows which spend most of its shooting time at Jade Garden whereas the red brick house is also became Oh Young’s -female main character played by Song Hye Kyo- house. Based on those facts? How could I resist not to go there?
As I wrote before, Gyeonggi province has so many wonderful theme-villages, after Edelweiss Swiss Theme Park, I also got chance to visit another theme-village named Petite France, which judging from the name, it was inspired by french culture. To be more exact, Petite France‘s concept was inspired by French author Saint Exupary who wrote novel ‘Le Petit Prince’. Eventhough this place also famous as of My Love from Another Stars, Secret Garden or Running Man’s shooting location, I didn’t watch those Kdramas and variety shows, and just came here bcos is well-known tourist attractions.
Besides strolling around Seoul, I also visit nearest provinces at SK like Gyeonggi since it has so many wonderful theme-villages which have different vibe like Edelweiss Swiss Theme Park. Judging from the name, this foreign village was inspired by Swiss-village rather than Korean-traditional village. I knew this village from The Return of Superman episode when Uhm Tae Woong and his daughter, Ji On, went there and it seemed this place is overload with cuteness and give a beautiful scenery because it located around at high mountains.
